The Badlands are type of dry terrain soft sedimentary rocks and clay-rich soils are often eroded by wind and rain. Badlands often have a spectacular color display that alternates from dark black/blue coal stria to bright clays to red scoria. Scoria is a dark colored volcanic rock.

This guy was a daredevil! He climbed all the way to the top! I would have been petrified to climb it.
