Zzz's are very
important at college, although we tend to lose sleep when we are studying for
major exams. I honestly tend to go to bed around 11 or 12, which is really bad.
I’ve started using a lavender pillow placed inside my pillow to help me go to
sleep. I’ve started using a lavender-vanilla body wash specialized for sleep.
It honestly does me a little good, but not so much. I find it hard to fall
asleep. I liked having 9am classes because helped me go to bed earlier in order
to wake up at a decent time, as well as catching a good amount of sleep.

Blogging from A to Z April (2015) Challenge: Day 25: Letter Y
I love yoga. It is
the best way for my to relax and release some stress and tension just by doing
a few yoga moves. It’s also great for becoming more flexible. I have a DVD that
I am going to start doing every afternoon when I have time. I’ll be doing my
yoga on my yoga mat, which my mom got for me for Christmas. It is the best
thing to have in a dorm room. I’d like to take a yoga class here on campus but
you either have to pay a $35-$45 for a quarter pass, or pay each class. That is
why I miss the base because you go to a yoga class for free.

Parents and Horses
My dad is pretty amazing. Yes, I may give him little heart attacks when I'm riding, but he is completely supportive. He doesn't say "Get down, I don't want you falling off anymore!," he lets me keep going. He likes the horses. When I was in 4-H and had a horse in one hand and had to do something, I would have my dad hold the horse. Parents really get into your sport as much as you do, because they support you.
My mom is always the one photographing my shows and helping me. She made the show box we take to shows and she makes the countless drives to Oregon or Spokane for IHSA shows now. She is the best show mom I've ever known. I love her and my dad for the support they have for me in the sport I love.
I love my parents.

Xtra lessons came in
handy when it came to Regionals this year. I enjoyed it because I was able to
perfect my riding with the help of my trainer. No matter what competition I
have coming up, I always asked for more lessons. I want my form, transitions,
and technique to be perfect. Equestrians tend to be perfectionists, or at least
I am one of them. I polish the outside of my boots (the part the judge sees), my
mom (being an awesome horse show mom) get my show clothes dry cleaned and I
focus on everything else; my form.

Attending WWU
(Western Washington University) has been awesome! I love how close everyone is
on campus. I particularly love living on the North Campus end of WWU. I’m a lot
closer to civilization. Where my dorm is, it is a short walk to downtown and
short drive to Fred Meyer. The faculty here at Western are so warm and
welcoming, they make you feel like family. The campus is amazing because it is
literally an outdoor art museum with all the sculptures from north to south
campus. The gym is the best part because they have a great selection and a
pool!

Why I Love my Roommate
I love my roommate, she's the best. She watched and stayed at the WWU home show all day and all night in February. Today, she wanted to come to the barn with me! It was a fun time.
She ended up helping me clean the stalls and runs and throw hay to the horses at the barn. I also let her do some grooming on Molly when I was getting ready to ride. She said she had a blast at the barn and I am so glad. I love having a roommate who is interested in what I do at college (i.e. riding).

The Week Ahead
Outside my window… The weather is nice but chilly.
I am thinking… about this new quarter and classes and job hunting.
I am thankful… That I have awesome pals on the riding team.
From the dining hall/kitchen… I am having some hot chocolate.
I am hearing… The clicking of keys as my fingers type on my Macbook and Netflix.
I am watching/listening… to Netflix.
Always one of my favorite things… Watching Monarch of the Glen.
I am reading… Nothing.
I am making… Nothing.
I am writing… This blog post!
A Few Plans for the Rest of the Week…Today - I am going to finish some homework, clean stalls, ride, and do more homework. Monday - I have class. Tuesday - I have no classes, but then I have a riding lesson and riding meetings in the evening. Wednesday - I have Personal Finance, French and my Biology classes. Thursday - all I have that day is my Biology lab and I am going to hit the gym that day in the morning. Friday - I have the same schedule on Wednesday. Then the weekend is free as a bird, might go to the gym those days.
MudLynn Update… Poor Mud got startled by two other dogs last week. My mom called and told me about it. Poor thing wouldn't leave more than two feet between her and Mom.
College Update… Fourth week of Spring Quarter!
Riding Update… Riding is going well. I am currently riding once a week this quarter since the show season is over. We are alternating our weeks with flat work and jump work.

Blogging from A to Z April (2015) Challenge: Day 22: Letter V
Yes, the mascot of my
college is a Viking and his name is Viktor E. Viking! I actually got a picture
with him when I went to my first college sports event, which was a soccer game.
I think it is really cool that come from a Norwegian town aka Poulsbo and came
to a university that uses a Viking as the mascot. Coincidence, I think maybe a
little one. The one thing I love about the Norwegian Vikings is that they
brought the Norwegian Fjord into the world. You know me, I am huge horse girl
when it comes to horses.
