MudLynn and Friends

Hello!!! Just an update on MudLynn. In the past, MudLynn was not fond of other dogs, but now that she's gotten older, she has become friendlier to other dogs. Today, she got to meet CJ and Cruiser. She really liked CJ because he is about 5 years older than her, so she liked how calm he was around her. CJ seemed to like her as well. Lastly, she met Cruiser who is about 2 years old. She liked Cruiser even though he had a bit more energy than her. She did play with him a bit. I mean, if you call chasing "play."

But, yeah! I am trying to expand her horizon in playing with other dogs. She did play a bit with a 9 month old Doberman puppy whose name was Trooper. I am actually going to be watching him in July. She didn't mind Trooper but she didn't like it when he would constantly sniff her bum (He's not neutered)…

Tip for the Trade

Is there anyone else out there that is as addicted to these EOS lip balms as much as I am? I have three and I want to collect the other colors/flavors! One thing I have learned now is to not leave it in the car during the summer. It somewhat melts… I decided to throw it in the fridge in order to get it back to its original state.

So ladies and gents, don't leave the EOS in the car when it is 80 degrees+ outside. But if you do, throw them in the fridge!

Bath Day is not Mud's Day

Mud during and after her bath yesterday

Oi, I really don't think bath day is Mud's forte. She knows that once I get the purple leash and five towels that it is bath time. She is easy to bath though, just takes five-ten minutes and then she's done.

She gets very excited during the towel drying phase of the bath, though. Like, she is running like a Greyhound and prancing like a doe. Mud is  a crazy little gal, it is astonishing to realize that she is going to be ten and she has this much energy. After her bath, she got her heart worm chewy.

So today, she had her flea treatment. She doesn't mind it at all really. Since she had her chewy yesterday, she always thinks that her flea treatment medicine is a treat as well. After I gave her the flea treatment, I always put her outside so that she can shake off any excess flea treatment that didn't soak in.

She is my baby though! <3

Virginia Bucket List

Hello everyone! I'm sorry I have been AWOL from you guys, I've just been so busy with chores and jobs that have been occupying my time. Anyway, I have decided that since I am moving to Washington state, I would do a Virginia bucket list for the time I am still in Virginia.

Bucket List
  • Chrysler Museum of Art
  • Ice Cream at Doumar's
  • Lunch at Freemason Abbey
  • Mermaid Factory
  • Bastille Days in Ghent
With this bucket list, I will explore places I've been to in the past and places I haven't been. I can't wait to start this list off! I can't wait to share my photos of this list to you guys, I hope it inspires you to explore these places one day!

The Big Yellow Duck

MudLynn and I on our outing in Norfolk yesterday. We went to see the Big Yellow Duck at the Chrysler Museum of Art. The Duck is the work of a Dutch artist, Forentijn Hofman, making its Virginia debut in Norfolk. The big yellow attraction has visited China, England, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, and Brazil. Quite the traveler, eh?

The one thing MudLynn enjoyed was looking through the peep holes in the wall at the Duck. She thought the Duck was rather fascinating.

It's literally a big rubber ducky who is lost from his giant human's bath tub. Poor giant, she must be upset to have lost her rubber ducky.

Lastly, MudLynn and I on the steps of the museum. Mom wanted to know if the museum was open but it was being used for a reception venue for a wedding. I find that very different, but a good different. I'd love to have my wedding reception at an art museum. I love museums that display pieces of famous art work. I'd love to see the Mona Lisa one day.

Overstock.com Encouraging Pet Adoptions!

Ever wondered how much that puppy in the window cost? No? But have you wondered how many animals don't have homes? No? Okay.

I encourage you, I beg you to check out your local shelter when looking for a new pet.

PLEASE!!!!

Did you know that Overstock.com has now included "Pet Adoption" on the tabs bar? Isn't that awesome?! They are encouraging their customers to check out the areas around them for animals looking for homes. I know some people make a living showing and breeding purebred dogs, but why? No offense to breeders/showers. So many pets have no homes and sit in a shelter waiting for their perfect family. Some pets who aren't adopted are euthanized. These dogs never get a chance of having a happy home.

I adopted my dog, MudLynn, and I love that I made the decision to adopt her. Just because she is a mutt/mixed breed, she is the greatest bundle of joy I have in my life. She is one of the best dogs ever and she helps keep the day happy and full of fun, even though she loves to nap the day away. We love going for walks together in the evening.

I already know that in my heart, I will adopt my future dogs from a shelter. I feel as though shelter dogs love and cherish you more than purebred dogs because shelter dogs are given the second chance to have a good home and a loving family.

The way the shelter dogs are, their different shapes and sizes gives them a uniqueness which purebreds don't have.

Being different is a good thing, they're one in a million.

My New Dream Job

I have had the ups and downs of what I want my dream job to be… Today, I kept thinking, "I want to be able to take my dog" and "I don't like leaving her alone at home."

I'd love to have a job where I could bring her anywhere. I know I want to work for a magazine or a news channel, but I'd like to write for a magazine. I need to do more blog posts about things dealing with horses or dogs. I'd really like to work for Modern Dog, it's like a combination of fashion and pets.

Mud is that kind of dog where she loves to go for rides in the car or hang in a room with me on her bed.

My Mud is my baby and my everything. I don't know what my life would be like if we didn't adopt her.

Adult Moment

As you all know, I currently live at home since I was going to community college. And over that time, I have been experiencing things someone who lives on their own would experience.

Now, I have been getting my nails done at the NEX near the base, so I have been paying for them myself for probably the last year. But today, I went shopping at the commissary. I've done this a few times, but this time I had to get some Broccoli for my mom since I am going to my neighbors for dinner.
This just made me feel so mature and grown up because I was buying food. I usually went in for my mom for dishwasher soap. Food was different because you have to examine and determine if it is good enough to buy. Along with the Broccoli, I had to get poop bags for MudLynn since we were out.

I actually saw a sign a few days ago. A sign as in emotional or something. It was to do with my dog, MudLynn. Since I have been pet sitting in home for my neighbor, my dad and MudLynn walked me over after I had diner. Once I was inside upstairs getting ready for bed, my dad called me and said, "Mudlynn suddenly went sad." I saw that as a sign that MudLynn is really my dog. So, I've concluded that when I get an apartment, she is going to live with me.

The Week Ahead

Outside my window… It is sunny and hot outside!

I am thinking… About the upcoming move.

I am thankful… That I am getting more baby sitting and pet sitting clients. More money for my savings account. I am currently doing an in home pet sitting job with a puppy, then I have two more this week. I just babysat today!

From the kitchen… Nothing.

I am hearing… The clicking of keys as my fingers type on my Macbook and TNT.

I am watching… Bones on TNT.

Always one of my favorite things… I love online window shopping.

I am reading… Nothing.

I am making… Nothing.

I am writing… This blog post!

A Few Plans for the Rest of the Week… Today, I am doing an in home pet sitting job for the rest of this week, then am starting another pet sitting job for Wednesday and Thursday, and lastly another pet sitting job starts Thursday.

MudLynn Update… MudLynn is doing great although shed doesn't enjoy that I come home once and awhile due to the in home pet sitting I am doing. My dad said she all of a sudden became sad after they walked me to the house last night. I wish I could take her to the homes I do in home sitting at but she isn't that great with other dogs. I think I am going to take her to doggie daycare twice a week for socialization.

College Update… No more classes for the summer! I can't wait for the fall though! Fall 2014 at Western Washington University! Time to go dorm room shopping, actually I've done a little bit already.

Riding Update… I went to the barn last week and rode, but I don't know if I am riding this week with Meredith yet.

Like
I like Skittles… Normally, I would say I like Chocolate, but I haven't had Chocolate very much lately. I have been snacking on Skittles though. I like the different flavors that the different bags have, they're very unique. I like the grape flavored Skittles the most.

Love
I love dogs! I think I already knew that though. I have been a pet sitter for 8 or 9 years now. I've watched dogs from Standard Poodles to Labrador puppies. I just love being around dogs. They're so cuddly and a huge joy to be with. They can sense your feelings and they know when you're down and low.

Loathe
I loathe that my throat is starting to feel a bit sore. I cannot get sick. I refuse! I hate getting sick, well I think everybody does. It just doesn't feel great or anything. I just took a dose of DayQuil this morning. I am going all out.

You & I : One Direction Review

I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed and noticed this…

One Direction posted on their page saying to watch the video and review. Now I love to review things so here goes.

When watching the You & I music video, I instantly fell in love with the beat of the song. I loved hearing the guitar mainly as the background music, the guitar is one of my favorite instruments.

As I watched the video, I love the simplicity of the video. Like I loved just seeing the boys in the video and no one else. I thought the transitions between the boys was absolutely brilliant. Just a spin, wave of the hand or turn of the head changed from Liam to Harry and so on.

The lyrics to the song really touched me deeply. The message of how two people who are in love can't be stopped by anyone or anything is just amazing.Their outfits were awesome, yet simple. I liked how they all matched together. I love a classy grey sweater and black jeans.

I thought the location was perfect, I like the combination of the song with the location; with the combination, it felt very heart warming and soulful. What I enjoyed the most was how they had frozen pictures of the boys or balls and how they moved into the frozen piece and brought it to life, positively super.

The boys have definitely matured and this video definitely shows it. Plus, they've all grown up so much and become handsome young men with tremendous talent. Great job, boys! This song is definitely my number 1 favorite right now.

With love, S.

J. Crew Haul

1/2/3/4/5/6/7
Let's just say I had a little too much fun at J. Crew today. ;) I needed some summer essentials so I bought three pairs of shorts, three tee shirts, and a nice blouse. I know my tee shirts are dark collars, but that was really it since they didn't have much of my size in the other colors.

I love the blouse I bought because it is very peasant-styled! I think peasant-styled tops are adorable. I am wearing it tonight when I go out to Otani for dinner with my parents, our celebratory dinner since we got our orders and I got straight A's this semester.

I have been admiring the shorts for the longest time because I would look at them online all the time. They just have that classy yet casual appeal to them, which I love the most. I can't wait to do more shopping next month!

J. Crew had some awesome sale deals today. 25% of the tee-shirts and 30% the shorts. Plus since I am a student at TCC, I got an extra 15% off. I love it when they have student or military discounts! :)

College Update!

Guys!!! I got straight A's this semester! AH! I am so happy and proud of myself! I am a fanatic when it comes to grades and they have to be perfect at the end of each semester. I guess you could say I am a little paranoid of my grades, but hey who isn't?

I am one of those students who wants to be in nearly every club, in every honor society, and in at least one sport. And I am really. I ride horses ( competitively and leisurely), I am a member of the French Honor Society and the Phi Theta Kappa: Beta Zetta Upsilon, and I was in 4-H.

You might think that isn't a lot, but it did take a lot of time out of my days, especially on weekends. I can't wait to go to Western! I have a small list of what clubs I want to join that will help enhance my journalism majors, I want to try out for the riding team, and work for the school newspaper. My year will be so busy with horse shows, writing, and attending club meetings that I won't have time to come home on some weekends.

Hope you had a smashing semester and year!

Furry Puppy Who's Not So Furry

Me? Shed? No, no way!
Do you ever find those dust bunnies under the couch that are furry bunnies instead of dust? I know I do, but mainly in the corners of my home instead of under the couch. I have owned a Furminator for 8 years now I am always amazed with it. As you can see from the picture, MudLynn had a lot of hair hiding. I just love how it picks up the fur under the top coat, pulling the fluffy winter coat out. I am starting to use this on MudLynn since it is getting very hot as summer is coming. I'd like it for her to be less panty and more play.

Today was grooming day, so MudLynn and I spent the day clipping her nails, filing the nails and brushing out her coat. I am trying to get on a good grooming schedule, but I am already on a great bathing/flea/tick/heart worm schedule.

The Furminator can be found at your local pet store and also online.

Do you have any other grooming tools that do amazing jobs? I'd love to hear about them.

I am watching… Love, Wedding Marriage. Absolutely love this movie!
Always one of my favorite things… I love online window shopping.

I like having a Hope Chest. Having a Hope Chest is an awesome thing for girls to have because they or their mom to put things away that they find in stores. I have already two boxes filled with things that I have set aside for when I have a home. Plus I had a shopping spree at the shop my mom works at because they were having a sale. Eek! I got so many cute things I am so happy.

Love
I love that I am finished with the spring semester! I have accomplished so much this semester! Right now, I have one grade in my SIS, which is math which is an A. I am waiting for my other classes. I think they will be up tomorrow. I am loving that I have completed my freshman year. That means I only have three more years left. I think one summer in Washington I will take extra classes to get my self ahead a bit.

Loathe
I loathe my awkward tan line on my feet, which was caused by my TOM's. I have been wearing my TOM's nearly everyday. I have owned them for about 2 years and I just recently tossed them because they were coming apart.

Well guys, the semester is coming to a close. I believe that I have ended it well. I have one grade put into my SIS already and it was for math. And guess what?! It was an A! :) I am just waiting for my computer, English, and Public Speaking grades. I do hope they are A's as well. I worked really hard this semester.

Well, I must dash! I have to put my portfolio together and do two last assignments for school.

Navy Floral and Nautical

I apologize in advance since I do not know the bracelet's and scarf's manufacturer. I bought this and the bracelets at the Tidewater Collection, which is a boutique located on Norfolk Naval Station. The profits from all the sales goes towards military family related charities. My mom works there so I tend to buy a few bits and bobs from there. I love their jewelry, so gorgeous. I love the nautical themed jewelry especially if they have anchors on them.

The Week Ahead

Outside my window… It is gloomy and cool. No sunshine today, it is in the 60's again. I like this weather the most. Sweater Weather!

I am thinking… About what I need to do and save in order to live in New York City.

I am thankful… That I am getting more baby sitting and pet sitting clients. More money for my savings account. I have three more gigs for this week.

From the kitchen… I am eating some delicious slices of Peaches and water. As well as cookies and icing.

I am hearing… The clicking of keys as my fingers type on my Macbook and Netflix playing a movie.

I am watching… Dreamwork Studios, Prince of Egypt on Netflix.

Always one of my favorite things… I love looking at apartments for sale in New York City in the Upper East Side and I love reading the new posts on Design Darling.

I am reading… I'm ready Army Wives. It's the book that the LifeTime Show Army Wives was based on. I actually got it signed at a function I attended with my mom.

I am making… Extra credit for English as well as Public Speaking journals.

I am writing… This blog post and my extra credit for English!

A Few Plans for the Rest of the Week… Today, I have to go pick up my neighbor's son since her helper is out of town and then I am going riding at Hawkesbury with Meredith! I have some school on Wednesday as well as babysitting. Since I won't be gone long on Wednesday, I am driving myself. Thursday, I am also probably riding with Meredith again as well as starting two more pet sitting gigs. Friday, I am babysitting for one of my neighbors.

MudLynn Update… MudLynn is doing great. She enjoys sleeping on my recliner for the most part. She is always snoozing. I just entered her and I in a giveaway.

College Update… My goodness! Classes are nearly over! I just got my last major English grade which was for my Critical Response page and I got a 92% on it! That boosted my overall class grade to a 92%! Another A! And you already know that I was exempt from my Math final since I have an A in the class. I don't know the final grade of my computer or public speaking classes though.

Riding Update… My lesson got cancelled today since the horse I was going to ride is lame, but I am riding Thursday!

Book Process: Day 2

Hi guys! Today I was working on my book and it is coming along really well. I am remembering so much from my previous years living in Rhode Island and the other states I lived in. It's about 6 pages long now. But my goal is to get up to a couple hundred. I already plan for when it is ever published that it should have a few pages in the book containing some photos and then I know the cover already, but that is secret.

This is my outfit of the day! Now the Michael Kors bag isn't available anymore, I got it at the beginning of my junior year. The shoes, clothes and bag are exacts but the Pandora, ring and earrings are replicas to represent the exact's that I have.

I splurged on my outfit from J. Crew since I got an A in my English class. I was so proud of my work that I wanted to reward myself.

I like that school is almost over. I only have about two or three days left. Plus I am exempt from my math final and I just turned in my last piece of math homework. All I have left is to turn in my English portfolio, a computer final, and a public speaking final. I am already putting my English portfolio together because I want to turn it in early.

Love
I love that I am getting so many babysitting and pet sitting jobs. Like now that school is starting to end, they are all starting to come in. I have three pet sitting gigs this week, babysitting on Wednesday and babysitting on Friday. AH! Oh well, all the money I earn is going in half between bank account and spending money. For my spending money, I am going to be doing small splurges at J. Crew.

 Loathe
I loathe mornings. Unless I'm being given breakfast in bed. But anyway, I just loathe being woken up. I love my sleep. I have the best dreams in the morning. Plus I don't like leaving the warmth of my bed whether or not my dog is still in bed cuddling with me.

Book Process: Day 1

Hello readers! If you can recall, I told you in a previous post that I had decided to write a book and that I have given myself one year to complete a rough copy. I started yesterday outlining the layout of the book and today since I have no work in my computers class, I started pouring into the Word doc. I've mainly poured out the events that are most recent. I'll be having my mom give me more info on the past events.

Wish List of the Day

 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8
Created through Polyvore

Today, I have been obsessed with anything nautical inspired. I have this love for anchors ever since I lived in Rhode Island. Rhode Island, which is apart of New England is the haven of anything nautical. I miss the little state so much ever since I moved to Virginia. However, I think the real reason why I love anchors very much is because I am a Navy brat and that my dad is Navy.

Today, I am determined to start laying some money away for this wish list I made. I have been dying to get some navy pants. I am particularly fond of the ones at J. Crew. There is a J. Crew store at the local mall, so I think I shall reward myself immensely if I get stunning grades for this semester. I would like to add some J. Crew to my closet. ;)

Since I have been reading Design Darling, I have started browsing the sites she links on her page. Anyway, I have started a love for Tuckernuck. It is such a splendid store because it has a lot of nautical inspired jewelry, bags and etcetera.

Also, Up Country is a stunning dog/cat collar store. I was able to tour it when I was in my 4-H group in Rhode Island at the time. One of my 4-H pal's mom actually works there. The collars there are just adorable because they are each designed with a stunning ribbon. I truly love the Anchors Away and would love for MudLynn to wear one. One day…Another thing that I admire about Up Country is that when a pet gets adopted from the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA), Up Country gives them a free collar and leash of their choice. I truly admire Up Country's partnership with the RISPCA.

Book Idea?

I've decided to write a book everyone. I've decided to write a book on how it was like for me to grow as a military child. I feel as though people outside the military don't know or realize how much of a duty and honor it is to be a daughter/son of a parent who is in the military. Since it is May 2nd, I have concluded to give myself 1 year in order to have a rough copy version. I'd like this book to be in the teen section or military section in the bookstore. I have also already come up with an idea for my book cover, but that's secret. :)

Mall Haul

As you know from my previous post that I went shopping at the mall for an event. Talk about pure heaven to a girl, right? Who else loves to shop?

Now, the clothes are mainly black, but I love black clothes because they are chic, classy and slimming.

I went to Forever 21 first since the other department stores didn't have a Little Black Dress that I liked. I found this black fit and flare dress which I found absolutely adorable. I loved how it came with a belt because it looks so chic when belted. I am actually wearing this for the function I am going to tonight. I am pairing it with a nice set of earrings and a pair of nude pumps.

Next, I found this black floral dress. I love florals, they are perfect for springtime. Another thing I love about this dress is the Peter Pan collar.  I've started an obsession with Peter Pan collars since I saw Eleanor Calder (1D's Louis Tomlinson's girlfriend) where some of the cutest tops and dresses with Peter Pan collars. I'd pair this dress with a pair of white converse, black flats, or sparkly thong sandals.

Next I found this cream colored sweater. I fell in love with this sweater when I first saw it on the rack. It reminds me of something Kate Middleton would wear. It's very soft too! I got this sweater and the second one for next fall since I will be in Washington fall and I've heard it rains a bit so I might as well have some nice sweaters. For me, I paired this with a pair of shorts from Pacsun and a pair of TOMs.

MudLynn, my baby!

Lastly, there is this black and white polka dot sweater. I think I have found a new love for polka dots! ;) This sweater is so comfy, I am actually wearing it right now as I type this. It's not as soft as the other sweater, but it is soft.

I then bought a lovely set of earrings! These earrings are knot styled which is really chic and cute. I am going to be wearing the black and gold ones tonight!

J'aime Paris!

Lastly, I went to Dillards for some Lancome since I heard they were doing a free gift offer.

I love this set that I got with my purchase of the Dual Finish powder. It came with a dark spot corrector, mascara set, night cream, makeup remover (not pictured), and a lip stick. It was supposed to come with an eyeshadow but they were all out. I didn't mind though, I have a whole lot of eyeshadow from my ipsy bags and from my birthday.

The lip shade is perfect because it is almost the shade of my lips, so it's not too dark or too light for my skin tone. I am wearing this lipstick tonight. The Dual Finish is very nice as well. It is so light I hardly know I am wearing it. Since I don't wear liquid foundation and the powder, I thought that this would be perfect for me. I asked the beautician about it and she said I could wear it every day, liquid or powder.

Please comment your blog if you've had a recent haul, I would love to see what you bought.
